JumpStart is an 87-hour program that provides intensive classroom and hands-on craft training to East Baltimore residents every year. As the official workforce development partner for East Baltimore Development Inc. (EBDI) the program helps local residents benefit from the area's recent economic activity and helps contractors working on the bio-tech park meet their community hiring requirements.
In addition to ensuring JumpStart participants' math proficiency and safety training (OSHA 10-Hour certified and First Aid/CPR Training) ABC trains them in carpentry, electrical and plumbing. Our goal is to place the graduates in a state-approved apprenticeship program after they attain some work experience.
Each candidate is screened for math proficiency, work history and drug tested. They also received a mechanical apititude test to see if they have the ability to comprehend and master the technical challenge of a construction site.
